According to the Sanskrit text, there are three names: *śīla*, which is translated here as "coolness," clarifying that the essence of morality has superior, powerful efficacy, capable of making the practitioner's body and mind cool and refreshed; the Sanskrit term *vinaya*, which is translated here as "subduing," referring to the teaching as that which can subdue; and there is another name, *vijita*, which is translated here as "already subdued," referring to the person who practices the vinaya as "already subdued." In the Sanskrit text there are only these three names, and there is no name *vini*. Terms such as "disciplined conduct" (saṃvara) and "precepts" (śīla) are all names of this region.
