景云：受三聚戒理實同時，義說前後，由先離惡後方善。測云：依舊論言謂菩薩受律儀戒上。舊人解云：形前喚後，校量勝律儀正意相同，七眾所以不如，攝善作修不共二乘故名為上，今云受律儀戒後者，此是義說前後，非受前後。

Jing says: "Receiving the three clusters of precepts is in principle simultaneous, but explained doctrinally as before and after, because first one abandons evil and only afterwards is one wholesome." Ce says: "According to the old treatise, it states: 'It refers to above the bodhisattva's reception of the morality of disciplined conduct.' Former teachers explained: 'Contrasting the former and calling out the latter, in comparison it is superior to disciplined conduct while being identical in primary intention; the reason the seven assemblies are not equal to it is that collecting the good and practicing cultivation are not shared with the two vehicles, and hence it is called 'above'.' Now it says 'after receiving the morality of disciplined conduct'; this is an explanation of doctrinal precedence, not a precedence in reception."
