Regarding the second wisdom, [Kuai]ji says: If it has the mental activity of tathatā, it is solely taintless subsequently attained wisdom. If speaking in a retracted sense, there is also defiled homogeneous subsequently attained wisdom. If speaking of maintaining its nature, as explained in the doctrine of the three gates of liberation, non-conceptual [wisdom] also has it. Now, taking both retracted defiled and taintless is preferable, just like the objection concerning preparatory application wisdom above. The explanation of the 'eight loci' means the five fields of knowledge make five, and the phenomena of the three natures make three. Throughout this Chapter on Wisdom, these are mapped to and subsumed under the three wisdoms of preparatory application and so forth.
