Regarding these two phrases, the treatise explanations are twofold: First, as in the Abhidharmasamuccaya, universally presenting worldly truth phenomenal entities in their entirety is called 'the full extent of things' (yāvadbhāvikatā); and those very phenomenal entities have many approaches of meaning, such as with-outflows, taintless, with-resistance, and without-resistance—these various approaches of meaning are called 'the suchness of things' (yathāvadbhāvikatā). Second, directly in terms of ultimate truth, the two kinds are distinguished, as explained in the sequence of the nine purifications: namely, tathatā of a single taste is called 'the suchness of things', and this tathatā subsuming phenomena as exhausting their suchness is called 'the full extent of things'.
