10.534

此中意云：謂如來本為菩薩時所行苦行捨身等，當知一切與施行相應，菩薩依止於施故行苦行，或時示現但行一度，或二，或三，乃至五六。

The intended meaning here is: When the Tathāgata originally was a bodhisattva, the austerities he practiced, such as giving up his body and so forth, should all be understood as conjoined with the practice of generosity. Because the bodhisattva relied upon generosity, he practiced austerities, sometimes manifesting the practice of only one perfection, or two, or three, up to five or six.
