。釋曰：第一者、謂知門智，能知義中所有名門差別故。第二者、謂知相智能知此義屬此名故。第三者、謂知言智能知異立言音故。第四者、謂知智智能知自能說法故，乃至下云舉法者以門故。釋法者以相故，令解者以言故，避難者以智故。廣說如彼。

The commentary says: The first is the gnosis of knowing the gate, being able to know the distinctions of the gates of names contained within the meaning. The second is the gnosis of knowing characteristics, being able to know that this meaning pertains to this name. The third is the gnosis of knowing speech, being able to know the different established vocal sounds. The fourth is the gnosis of knowing gnosis, being able to know one's own ability to expound the Dharma. And so forth, down to where it says: 'Presenting dharmas is by means of the gate; explaining dharmas is by means of characteristics; causing understanding is by means of speech; avoiding objections is by means of gnosis.'
