景云：法義呪三持用如量智為性，忍持通用如理如量二智為性。若約法數出體，法義二持即用念慧為性，呪持一種用自在定為性，以禪定力加被諸呪文句令有神驗。第四忍持即用智慧為性，即是法思性解忍為性。

Jing says: 'The three retentions—Dharma, meaning, and mantra—take empirical wisdom as their nature. The retention of receptivity (kṣānti) universally takes both real and empirical wisdom as its nature. If determining their essence according to dharmas: the two retentions of Dharma and meaning take mindfulness and discernment as their nature; the single retention of mantra takes sovereign concentration as its nature, using the power of meditative stabilization to empower the words of mantras so that they have miraculous efficacy. The fourth, the retention of receptivity, takes wisdom as its nature, namely, the receptivity that is the decisive understanding of the nature of Dharma contemplation.'
