略於十處，無倒調伏所化有情等者，若依舊論云：二十調伏眾生有十種名正調伏。云何為十？離諸纏離煩惱分別惡戒。相傳云：離纏者，則離八纏。離煩惱者，離十使重煩惱，通為九。離惡戒者，謂離外道邪心分別鳥雞等戒，通前為十，此說不然。

Regarding "in brief, unerringly subduing the sentient beings to be transformed in ten respects," and so forth: according to the old treatise: 'Twenty-subduing sentient beings has ten kinds called correct subduing. What are the ten? Free from entanglements, free from afflictions, discerning bad precepts.' The traditional transmission says: 'Free from entanglements' means being free from the eight entanglements; 'free from afflictions' means being free from the ten drive-like major afflictions, making nine together; 'free from bad precepts' means being free from the bad precepts of heterodox paths, such as the discriminatory precepts of birds, chickens, and the like, making ten together with the preceding. This explanation is incorrect.
