第一持者，是初瑜伽。於中開為三持，一、種姓持則種姓品；二、發心持則發心品；三、菩提分法持。

The first, "supports," is the first yoga. Within it, it is divided into three supports: 1. the support of the gotra, which is the Gotra Chapter; 2. the support of generating the mind [for awakening], which is the Chapter on Generating the Mind; 3. the support of the dharmas leading to awakening.
