哀愍依處者，景云：說境為處，謂緣五種有苦及行惡人等而與哀愍，故名依處。
Regarding the basis of compassion, Jing says: The object is called the basis; that is, taking the five kinds of people who have suffering, who practice evil, and so forth, as the object and extending compassion to them; hence it is called the basis.
