11.403

前中，景云：謂諸菩薩住種姓，性自仁賢；成熟乃至眾多善法者，成種子也。於彼現行亦顯現者，十信已前在流轉位。由種姓力令彼行者，數起福分善非起解脫分善，若起解脫分善則十信，十信則是解行住收，非種姓住故，下文中明餘行位，云從初發心乃至未得清淨意樂，所有眾行一切皆勝解行住，故知種姓住中所起眾善並是福分非疑。

Regarding the first, Jing states: It means that when all bodhisattvas abide in the gotra, they are naturally humane and virtuous. "Maturing up to numerous wholesome dharmas" means maturing the seeds. "Also manifesting in their active manifestations" refers to the stage of transmigration prior to the ten faiths. Through the power of the gotra, that practitioner is caused to frequently give rise to wholesome [roots] conducive to merit, not wholesome [roots] conducive to liberation. If they give rise to wholesome [roots] conducive to liberation, then it is the ten faiths; the ten faiths are subsumed under the abiding of resolute conduct, not the abiding of gotra. Therefore, in the text below explaining the remaining stages of practice, it says that from the initial generation of the aspiration [for awakening] up to not yet having attained pure intention, all manifold practices are entirely the abiding of resolute conduct; thus we know without doubt that the manifold wholesome deeds arising in the abiding of gotra are all conducive to merit.
