Regarding "the bodhisattva thus having completely distanced himself from all afflictions up to vigorous exertion," Jing says: "Because the bodhisattva of the seventh stage has abandoned all afflictions, the three actions attendant upon all conceptual discrimination do not operate at all; yet he does not abandon the vigorous exertion of seeking bodhi." Ji says: "Because there are subtle conceptual discriminations that are difficult to comprehend and no coarse discriminations, it is called 'signless'. The preceding stages and so forth have coarse discriminations and are called 'with signs'. Since these [subtle ones] are all conceptual discriminations in accord with bodhi, he does not abandon them." Regarding "manifested through the exquisite cultivation of the forbearance of the non-arising of dharmas," because he constantly enters the true contemplation, the forbearance of the non-arising of dharmas increases in brilliance from moment to moment, hence it is said to 'exquisitely cultivate the forbearance of the non-arising of dharmas.' The forbearance of the non-arising of dharmas is precisely the direct realization of non-conceptual wisdom.
