護月有三種五根：一、意識及相應變者；二、末那相應變者，彼以第七識緣第八相分，為我所故。
Candragomin posits three kinds of five faculties: first, those transformed by mental consciousness and its conjoined [factors]; second, those transformed in conjunction with manas, because that seventh consciousness takes the mark-aspect of the eighth as 'mine.'
