Ji says: This is discussed in terms of the body; because the body's measure is small, it is called 'narrow and small.' Another view says: It is spoken of in terms of the external vessel having large and small measures, as in a small-thousandworld, etc. Ji further states: Small and large cognitions are spoken of in terms of the majority or minority of the eighteen dhātus; for example, the Formless Realm has no form and no body, so in terms of what would it be small or large? Therefore, the dhātus are spoken of as large or small, because the Formless Realm is spoken of as large or small in terms of the dhātu of dharmas (dharmadhātu). This meaning is not yet clear. The Tripiṭaka Master says: When that mind perfumes and forms seeds either broadly or briefly, the eighth cognizes these seeds; the seeds derive their designations of broad, brief, etc., from the active consciousness, not because it cognizes the active consciousness.
