如極微虛空等，以教為本質，如前以種子為本質，又如緣兔角以何為本質，此皆尋名，名本質故影生，故唯識也。此兔角等不生者，由現在無生因。若如過去既非兔角果，故兔角不同過去。

[Answer:] Just as subtle atoms (paramāṇu), space, and so forth take the teachings as their archetype, and as previously seeds were taken as the archetype; also, as in cognizing rabbit horns, what is taken as the archetype? These all pursue names; because names are the archetype, the images arise, and thus it is consciousness-only. That rabbit horns and the like do not arise is because in the present there is no cause of arising. If it were like the past, since it is not the fruition of rabbit horns, rabbit horns are not like the past.
