That only consciousness is mentioned here is an abbreviation without discussion. Furthermore, mental factors are not like the supporting physical elements; why is this? When the supporting physical elements and faculties are absent, it is possible for there to be mental factors; but that is not so—how could they exist when the primary mind is absent? Therefore they cannot serve as a parallel. Herein, if there is matter and separately there is mind, where are the seeds located? Does each single physical dharma and mental dharma possess all seeds, or not, so that when mind exists they are in the mind, and when mind is absent they are in matter? If they are present during the intermediate state (antarābhava), then there are immeasurable seeds. Furthermore, when born into the formless realm, where are the seeds in matter located? If when mind exists they are in the mind and so forth, then just as when mind exists in the form realm, where are they located? If they are in the mind, why are they not in matter?
