Question: If they are not produced from seeds accumulated through vāsanās, up to 'because all have tathatā as an objective support condition'—this is an external objection. The objection means: If supramundane dharmas arise separately from seeds having tathatā as an objective support condition, and all sentient beings have tathatā as an objective support condition, then all should have seeds that take tathatā as an object; why then establish those who attain parinirvāṇa and those who do not attain parinirvāṇa? Below, by relying on the presence or absence of hindrances, it is shown that in their persons the supramundane seeds are either fulfilled or unfulfilled, and thus there is the distinction of the five gotras.
