13.57

（泰云）於八相中，第二、第三因外難成，非正證也。（備云）初一相正辨賴耶識證有本識，後七相，非正辨賴耶識由緣中說證。

(Tai says:) Among the eight characteristics, the second and third are established on account of external objections, and are not direct proofs. (Bei says:) The first characteristic directly analyzes the ālaya-consciousness to prove that the fundamental consciousness exists; the latter seven characteristics do not directly analyze the ālaya-consciousness, but establish the proof by speaking of conditions.
