13.98

依上下文一切有漏法，有麁重所隨，五識等種子，雖非妄執習氣，麁重所隨故，但名習氣，是第八緣。此中通含為語，即遍計執習氣真是六、七二識；習氣者，是餘五識及第八識，非妄執習氣，諸現行並為麁重所隨應並名習氣。

Relying on the preceding and following text, all defiled phenomena are accompanied by coarse heaviness (dauṣṭhulya). Although the seeds of the five consciousnesses and so forth are not the vāsanā of false grasping, because they are accompanied by coarse heaviness, they are simply called vāsanā, and are intentional objects of the eighth [consciousness]. The phrasing here is inclusive: thus the vāsanā of false discrimination are truly those of the sixth and seventh consciousnesses; as for 'vāsanā' [alone], they are the other five consciousnesses and the eighth consciousness, which are not the vāsanā of false grasping. Their active manifestations are all accompanied by coarse heaviness, so they should all be called vāsanā.
