又難：增上慢苾芻等可知此中生二蘊，為一業感別業感，答，若總報同一業，若別報別業感，故中有有心，生有無心何爽，亦當前思感或思時感中有，別報思上功能厭心者感生有。

Another objection asks: For bhikṣus with excessive pride and the like, as is known, two aggregates arise here; are they induced by one karma or induced by distinct karmas? Answer: If considered as general retribution, it is the same karma; if considered as particular retribution, they are induced by distinct karmas. Therefore, the intermediate state possesses mind, while birth-existence is mindless—how is this contradictory? It should also be that the previous volition induces it, or at the time of volition it induces the intermediate state, while the capacity of the weary mind upon the volition of particular retribution induces birth-existence.
