言若作表白第四羯磨、及略攝受隨麁學處者,謂受戒已,略說四重及以四依,謂乞食等名麁學處,一白三羯磨,第三羯磨名為第四,自此已受行隨戒,名受隨法學處支,鄔波云近,迦云事,索即男聲,斯即女聲,於近事之上加以索斯之聲,故男女別。
Regarding the statement, 'If performing the motion with the fourth karmavācanā and summarily undertaking the subsequent coarse trainings': this means that after receiving the precepts, the four grave offenses and the four reliances are summarily spoken—that is, begging for food and so forth are called coarse trainings. With one motion and three karmavācanās, the third karmavācanā is called the fourth. From this point on, having undertaken to practice the subsequent precepts, it is called the 'branch of undertaking trainings concordant with the Dharma'. Upā- means 'proximate', -ka means 'serving', -sa is the masculine inflection, and -sī is the feminine inflection; adding the inflections -sa and -sī to 'proximate-serving', men and women are thereby distinguished.
