前中，景云：謂於加行道中，先集資糧極圓滿故者，此遠方便在順解脫分位，名為資糧。又善方便磨瑩心故者，謂決擇分學觀四諦漸已明利，是近方便。

In the former part, Jing says: "Because in the path of preparation one has first gathered provisions to extreme fulfillment": this remote expedient lies in the stage of the aids to liberation and is called provisions. "Moreover, because through skillful expedients one has polished and burnished the mind": this means that in the aids to penetration one trains in observing the four truths and gradually makes it clear and sharp; this is the proximate expedient.
