"The mind observing dharmas arises": the arising of the mind of the uninterrupted path is discussed in terms of its cause, because the uninterrupted path does not separately construct contemplations of the conceptual designation of sentient beings and so forth. Master Sāgaramati of Nālandā Monastery explained that these three minds are not standardly [restricted to] the bodhisattva's path of seeing, but also belong to the two vehicles. Why is this so? First, one separately observes selflessness upon dharmas and thus engages in contemplation of the practice of selflessness, which is called dispelling the conceptual designation of sentient beings; next, through the practice of emptiness one dispels the conceptual designation of dharmas belonging to a self and eliminates grasping at what belongs to a self, which is called secondarily dispelling the conceptual designation of dharmas; third, regarding the designated self and the dharmas belonging to a self, one repeatedly observes the inferior emptiness of self and what belongs to a self, which is called universally dispelling both conceptual designations.
