解云：種有二用，一生果用，二障道用，彼位惑種雖無前用，而有後用，是故不捨。

The explanation says: Seeds have two functions: first, the function of producing fruit; second, the function of obstructing the path. Although the affliction seeds at that stage lack the former function, they possess the latter function; therefore they are not abandoned.
