Regarding 'the arising of all sufferings: conditioned by existence is birth, conditioned by birth is old age and death', this identifies the entity of all sufferings. That 'consciousness, name-and-form, etc., up to again obtain the name of suffering' means that the seeds of the five branches formerly in consciousness were previously called inducing causes; now when producing the result, they are called birth, old age, and death. However, these seeds, sharing the same entity with birth-and-death as vipāka, also receive the name of suffering.
