初出三際無知生疑。言若於內疑惑此誰所有者，此殺現在內身縱我所有，我為是誰？為是誰者？此疑現在內身為繫屬誰。今此有情至當住何所者，疑現有情來往之處，當知此疑從現在中前後二際無知所生。

First, the non-cognition of the three periods of time gives rise to doubt. Regarding the phrase 'if concerning the internal one doubts to whom this belongs': this means, regarding this present internal body, 'Even granting it is my possession, who am I?' Regarding 'to whom': this doubts to whom this present internal body is bound and subordinate. Regarding the passage from 'Now, where this sentient being' up to 'will reside': this doubts the places to and from which present sentient beings come and go; one should know that this doubt is produced from non-cognition of the two periods of past and future within the present.
