泰、基述兩解：一說，若別說者，苦根唯以修斷為境，總相說故，云緣三種。一說，據自證分亦緣無斷，故無相違。

Tai and Ji present two explanations: One says: if distinguished specifically, the suffering faculty takes only what is abandoned by cultivation as its object; but because it is spoken of in general terms, it is said to take three kinds as its object. Another says: based on the self-authenticating aspect, it also takes the non-abandoned as its object; hence there is no contradiction.
