Below, questions and answers distinguish the crude heaviness of afflictions. An arhat has severed them forever; what has he not severed, the severing of which is named 'the Tathāgata'? The answer: 'the crude heaviness belonging to the category of ripened maturation is severed only by the Tathāgata.' Jing's commentary says: although afflictions have been severed, there still remains the residual momentum of the afflictions, rigid and crudely heavy, dwelling within the ripening storehouse consciousness, which can cause the two vehicles to make lapses in the three actions, such as stamping and clapping both feet, groaning in the forest, and so forth.
