答：下三空地有餘二無漏根故說有彼未知當知，非想無後二無漏根設有此行論家不說，又非想心闇昧故，不同下地能起此行，故不說有初無漏根。

Answer: Because the lower three formless stages have the other two taintless faculties, they are said to have that [faculty of] that which has not yet been known and will be known. Neither-perception lacks the latter two taintless faculties; even if this practice were present, the treatises' authors would not mention it. Furthermore, because the mind of neither-perception is dark and obtuse, it is not like the lower stages that can give rise to this practice; therefore, it is not said to possess the first taintless faculty.
