17.127

離間語事，或和不和者，謂已和合處及當和合處，麁惡語。方便究竟者，謂訶罵彼，不言彼領解言者，何故爾耶？

In the basis of divisive speech, 'either harmonious or unharmonious' refers to where there is already harmony and where there will be harmony. In harsh speech, preliminary effort and culmination refer to scolding and rebuking him; it does not say that he comprehends the words—why is that so?
