答：以前遍處於境色中得自在故，故能引發化事變事，此處有礙神通未得空處定，但依第四禪得故，豈不得化事耶？約勝用語，諸凡夫不得前八遍。

Answer: Because through the previous totalities one has attained mastery over objective form, one can therefore elicit works of creation and works of transformation. This level possesses supernormal powers with obstruction, as one has not yet attained the absorption of the space base, but obtains them merely by relying on the fourth dhyāna; how could one not attain works of transformation? Speaking in terms of the superior, ordinary persons do not obtain the first eight totalities.
