基云：說因者說因言所以，即謂外人曰：即說有所以故不增長，無所以故不增，即是成宗之因所以也。此中為比量，思之可解。

Ji says: A stated reason is the articulation of a reason, meaning the 'because'. That is, one says to the opponent: you say there is a reason, so it does not grow; or lacking a reason, it does not grow—this is the reason and cause that establishes the thesis. Formulating an inference here can be understood through reflection.
