前中,言由彼諸色具色自相,即以此事還說此事等者,謂色還有色相故名有色。對法論主有色性,故名有色法。今云自相有何所以,解云,相即體相,體亦名性,故無相違。
In the first part, where it says: "Because those material forms possess the intrinsic characteristic of form, by this very fact one speaks of this fact," and so forth, it means that because material form still has the characteristic of form, it is termed 'having material form' (rūpin). The author of the Abhidharma treatises says that it is possessing the nature of material form, and therefore is termed a 'phenomenon having material form'. Now, why does [the text here] speak of 'intrinsic characteristic'? The explanation says: 'characteristic' means the characteristic of the entity, and the entity is also called 'nature'; hence there is no contradiction.
