識食者，成唯識云：謂有漏識，此識雖通諸識自體而第八識食義偏勝，此顯識食取通三界有漏八識。

Regarding consciousness as food: the Cheng weishi lun states: it refers to tainted consciousness. Although this consciousness is common to the essential nature of all consciousnesses, the eighth consciousness has the pre-eminent sense of food; this reveals that consciousness as food takes the tainted eight consciousnesses common across the three realms.
