次辨命根癈立，謂有是處乃至壽量而住者，謂色天等不由飲食如其所感壽量而住，此約善趣唯由命根，或有惡趣唯由命根勢力而住，如餓鬼等。

Next is discerning the rejection and establishment of the life faculty. From "there are instances…" up to "abiding according to the measure of their lifespan": this means that the form-realm gods and so forth do not rely on food and drink, but abide according to the measure of lifespan they have received. This refers to the good destinies abiding solely through the life faculty; or there are evil destinies that abide solely through the power of the life faculty, such as hungry ghosts.
