18.30

言獨覺乘證得有二者，一、先已得聲聞決擇分善根，得果時無師獨悟；二、先已得見道名證得證得，先時因佛為說四諦，得入見道成預流，後得第四果時無師獨覺。此前二人先是聲聞，後無師獨悟名為獨勝，是眾出辟支，最後喻如麟角獨出也。

Regarding 'realization in the pratyekabuddha vehicle is of two kinds': first, having previously attained the roots of good conducive to penetration among the śrāvakas, at the time of attaining the fruit one awakens alone without a master; second, having previously attained the path of seeing, which is called realization of realization—previously, due to the Buddha teaching the four truths for them, they entered the path of seeing and became stream-enterers, and later, at the time of attaining the fourth fruit, they awakened alone without a master. These first two persons were formerly śrāvakas and later awakened alone without a master, so they are called 'solitary victors'; they emerge among the multitude as pratyekas, whereas the last is compared to the horn of a rhinoceros, emerging in solitude.
