言水火等，更待餘緣，方能作業者，如得火鐵漏為水，或遇勢即如於水等，泰云：唯堅色聚唯有此界能作業用造色。若於欲界堅色聚中，亦有色香味三處所造色，同一地大造也。於色界堅色聚中，但有色界能依業用無香味也。於堅色聚中除水火風及與聲界唯有種子之所隨逐。

Regarding the words "water, fire, and so forth still depend on other conditions before they can perform activities": just as iron on meeting fire melts into water, or on meeting momentum is like water, and so forth. Tai states: Only an aggregate of solid form possesses only this element capable of the activity of derived form. If in an aggregate of solid form in the desire realm, there is also derived form of the three bases—form, odor, and taste—made by the same single earth element. In an aggregate of solid form in the form realm, there is only the activity capable of supporting the form realm, without odor or taste. In an aggregate of solid form, except for the water, fire, wind, and sound elements, they are accompanied only by seeds.
