言謂各別至能斷諸蓋者，貪蓋取淨即以不淨觀治，瞋蓋以違害為性，以慈悲觀為治等。

As for the statement 'referring to individually [...] being able to sever the hindrances': the hindrance of sensual desire grasps at purity, so it is counteracted by contemplation of impurity; the hindrance of ill will has malice as its nature, so it is counteracted by contemplation of loving-kindness and compassion, and so forth.
