18.68

答：非如言教義相應意趣，但是除遣如言劣義，其餘勝義名別義意趣，故意趣能了教導理門，可作此文不與別時意教義相應意趣，與別時意教義相應意趣，與別時義意相變，故名別義意趣，以餘勝義除遣別時義意以辨教導。此中隨難別解，故餘十五，更不料簡。

Answer: it is not an intention conjoined with the literal teaching's meaning; it merely eliminates the inferior literal meaning, and the remaining ultimate truth is called the intention of another meaning. Therefore, intention can make known the principle-gate of teaching. This text can be understood thus: it is not an intention conjoined with the meaning of teaching another time; it alternates with the intention of another time's meaning, and is thus called the intention of another meaning; by using other ultimate truths to eliminate the intention of another time's meaning, it distinguishes the teaching. Here, it is separately explained according to difficulty; therefore, the remaining fifteen are not further analyzed.
