Eighth, distinguishing feelings concomitant [with them]: Reflection is concomitant exclusively with joy; because the remaining five are concomitant with joy, pleasure, and equanimity. Since equanimity in the desire realm is inferior, it is not concomitant with superior wisdom arisen from reflection; and pleasure in the desire realm is not present in the mental stage, so it is also not concomitant. Concomitance here does not necessarily mean mental association, so it extends to morality; alternatively, since it speaks of feelings concomitant, it is not established of morality, and thus the remaining ones are four.
