Tai says: before eating, the bodily feeling arisen due to the contact of hunger is called "old feeling arisen from the contact of hunger." Producing painful feeling from overeating to excess is arisen from food. Nourishing oneself by eating according to moderation can increase pure conduct. The power of that food can overcome the counteracted feeling arisen from hunger, and so forth. Eating in accordance with moderation is abiding in the joy of the present life. Because of acting without fault after eating, one is a pure field of merit for gifts. When about to sleep, one first contemplates the thought of rising early in the later watch of the night.
