Jing says: It does not say 'this thing is form' or 'this thing is feeling'; it directly says 'what thing is this?' or 'this thing is what?', etc. Therefore it is said to be not produced by written words. Question: Since it says 'there are two designations by names', and yet also says 'not produced by written words', what is the intended purport here? The explanation says: Because it does not speak relying on the written words of dharma-marks saying 'this thing is form, is feeling, perception, etc.', it is said to be not produced by written words; yet because it generally says 'what thing is this?' or 'this thing is what?', it is called designation by names.
