文中勝品之言，簡同品下品，非如同類因，若生得善及染污法九品相望得為因，若方便善與等勝因。然此引發因望他法故亦得為因，同類因但以自他為果，故二因用互有廣狹。

The words 'superior grade' in the text distinguish it from those of the same grade and lower grades; it is not like the homogeneous cause (sabhāga-hetu). Innately acquired wholesomeness and defiled phenomena can serve as causes when the nine grades are viewed in relation to one another; expedient wholesomeness serves as a cause for equal and superior [grades]. However, because this inducing cause looks toward other phenomena, it can also serve as a cause [for them], whereas the homogeneous cause takes only self and same-kind as fruit; thus the functions of these two causes are mutually broader and narrower.
