The fruit of purposive action has two meanings: First, it has the four sensory objects obtained through the action of the nominal agent of the five aggregates as its substance, as fascicle thirty-eight states: divination and farming are its nature. Second, it generally has all conditioned and unconditioned dharmas as its nature, because each individual dharma is called a 'purposive agent'; for these can bring about four kinds of fruits: co-nascent, immediately following, temporally separated, and unarisen.
