2.154

又求果者，唯取此因，非餘者，如求酪取乳，求瓶取泥，不取餘因，當知乳中，先有酪性，泥中先有瓶果之性，是二理也。

'Furthermore, those who seek an effect only grasp this cause and not others': for example, when seeking curd one grasps milk, and when seeking a pot one grasps clay, not grasping other causes; one should know that in the milk the nature of curd already exists beforehand, and in the clay the nature of the fruit of the pot already exists beforehand. This is the second reason.
