為異不異者，謂因中有果性，法與遇緣顯果為異不異。若不異者，法應常顯，以本法先常有故，先顯今顯，不應道理。量云：汝宗果法，先來應顯，即本法比量，翻此可知。

'Being different or not different': does the dharma possessing the nature of an effect in the cause differ or not differ from the effect manifested upon encountering conditions? If it does not differ, the dharma should be permanently manifest, because the original dharma was permanently existent beforehand; to say that it was manifest before and is manifest now does not accord with reason. The inference is: The effect in your school should have been manifest from the beginning, because it is identical to the original dharma; the inference that reverses this can be known by analogy.
