初難有三：一、有方所，量云：未來應有方所，有來至故，猶如現在；二、與現在無別，量云：未來與現無別，有來至故有方所故，猶如現在；三、應是常，量云：未來應是常，本自有故，如虛空等。

The first challenge has three parts: 1. Having a spatial location. The syllogism is: The future should have a spatial location, because it comes [into the present], just like the present. 2. Being non-different from the present. The syllogism is: The future is non-different from the present, because it comes and because it has a spatial location, just like the present. 3. It should be permanent. The syllogism is: The future should be permanent, because it exists inherently from the outset, like space and the like.
