自下破中有二，初破邪執，後示正義。前中復二：初破，後結。前中，初破四十見，二破極微。前中，初總指，同前我論中，破計我為常，則是我論差別相攝，已破我論。當知常論亦已破訖。後別破復二：初破前際常論，後破後際常論。前中初破計過去，後破計現在。

Next, the refutation consists of two parts: first, refuting the false tenets; second, showing the correct meaning. In the former there are again two parts: first, refuting; second, concluding. In the former part, it first refutes the forty views, and second refutes atoms. In the former part, it first points out generally that, as in the previous discussion on the self, refuting the positing of an eternal self is subsumed under the specific characteristics of the discussion on the self; having already refuted the discussion on the self, one should know that the discussion of eternalism is also already refuted. Then, the specific refutations are again two: first, refuting the eternalist theories regarding the prior limit; second, refuting the eternalist theories regarding the posterior limit. In the former part, it first refutes the positing of the past, and second refutes the positing of the present.
