無色界有四處所者，有四蘊根，四空壽命長短不同故。或無處所者，無別宮宅，上下參差故。
As for the Formless Realm having four locations: it is because there are four faculties of the aggregates, and the lifespans of the four formless [attainments] differ in length. Alternatively, regarding having no locations: it is because there are no distinct palaces and mansions, and no higher and lower gradations.
