上來辨施。下辨戒品。初總標，毘奈耶者，此云調伏，調伏三業也。次別解有四：初正辨戒相；次明護非護；第三明轉捨因緣；第四略解犯之相。

The preceding section analyzed [the chapter on] giving. Below, the chapter on morality (śīla) is analyzed. First, a general heading: Vinaya here means "discipline" (tiao-fu), which is to discipline the three types of karma. Next, the specific explanations are twofold: first, directly analyzing the characteristics of morality; second, clarifying protection and non-protection; third, clarifying the conditions for abandoning [the precepts]; fourth, briefly explaining the characteristics of offenses.
